Principle Accredited Exercise Physiologist

As an Accredited Exercise Physiologists I like how we treat such a broad range of medical conditions on a daily basis, it keeps our job interesting and it’s very stimulating to me. I enjoy performing assessments on my clients and getting a clear understanding on how their body is functioning in terms of their movement, muscle imbalances, strength, balance, and cardiovascular fitness. One of the most rewarding achievements of my job is when my clients achieve positive health results from my individualised exercise programs.

My areas of interest in Exercise Physiology include: chronic lower back pain, pelvic instability and aged care. Since becoming a mother, I now have a clear understanding of how the body changes during and post pregnancy which has given me a new passion in my field for prescribing safe and correct exercises for pre, during and post pregnancy.

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist I really enjoy the challenge when I see a complex client with multiple conditions and am able to develop an exercise program that works for them to give them the best outcome and achieve their ultimate goals and improve their quality of life. I enjoy sharing my passion for health and fitness with clients of all ages and backgrounds and showing them that exercise can be used to treat or manage all conditions and is suitable for all ages.

I love the variety of Exercise Physiology in private practise; however I do have a particular interest in using exercise for pain management; particularly with the elderly, arthritis and fibromyalgia. Accredited Exercise Physiologist

As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist I love meeting new clients who have chronic conditions and are somewhat anxious about starting exercise. I find that providing education for these individuals gives them a new hope in achieving their long-term goals and changes their perspective fears and concerns regarding exercise. It is so rewarding seeing an individual who was once anxious, enjoying and involving others in the benefits of exercise.

I have found a strong interest in treating individuals with cardiac and pulmonary conditions such as previous heart attacks, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and those who have undergone cardiac bypass surgery. I really enjoy this area of Exercise Physiology as I have found it gives hope to individuals who are concerned about returning to any type of physical activity.

I have recently focused my further study towards athletes with various sporting injuries. This area of high performance training allows me to work with athletes; both young and old, to prescribe sport specific exercises to safely return to their respective sports!

Qualifications and Accreditations:

  • Bachelor of Exercise Science (LaTrobe University)

  • Masters of Exercise Physiology

  • Accredited Exercise Physiologist through Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).

  • Certificate 3 in Fitness

  • Level 2 First Aid and CPR

Outside of work I enjoy keeping physically active with a variety of sports (predominately soccer) and spending time with friends and family.
